Letters of Thanks from Soldiers and their Families
We are posting some of the letters that we receive because it is you that needs
to be thanked. We could not have done any of this without all your support. You
should read these letters as if they were addressed to you because they are.
I have to apologize for taking so long to send you a thank you all that you did for my family and all of the other deployed soldiers families from the I Corp unit that is in Afghanistan. I was overwhelmed with the generosity. I know that these things don't just happen and that it takes a lot of work behind the scenes. Thank you. There aren't words that can express of grateful we are for the sincere kindness that we felt from you and everyone that donated to our family.
Thank you again,
I was shocked by the generosity of the people who donated Christmas items to my family. I wish there was a way to tell them how much it meant to us to have perfect strangers give us so much. They went beyond what they were asked to do and I sincerely appreciated every bit of it. Thank you for getting this program together and for blessing the lives of many many people.
Thank you so much,
To whom it concerns:
I wanted to say thank you, on behalf of my children and I, for the care we
received at Christmas. I have always taught my children that the spirit of
giving is what makes Santa real and Christmas so dear. My husband is
deployed, so this year was looking very depressing to me. We had many
trials come our way and I felt like they would take over everything. The
miracles we experienced will forever be cherished. Thank you for making me
feel cared for and making our Christmas so magical. I appreciate so much all
the kindnesses extended to us. May you be blessed, and I hope that this
program sees many more years. We are looking forward to being on the other
end of this whole wonderful experience in the future.
Much love and many blessings,
I can't Thank You enough! The holidays were suprisingly much harder than I
had thought! I wasn't thinking it was going to be any different/harder, but
they were, quite a bit! It was a huge help to have this support. There were
bright spots in the holidays, and in all of this in spite of how hard it is,
and those really, really help! Wow. Knowing how much it meant to me, it is
Very motivating for me to do something for others for Christmases to come.
THANK YOU SOOO MUCH.
Thank you so much to everyone involved in the Giving Tree project. It was so wonderful to have that extra support from the community during the holidays spent without our soldier. It truly brought tears to my eyes. We received some lovely gifts and my children were just thrilled with their items! Thank you, again for the work you put into supporting the deployed soldiers and their families. My husband is grateful, as well.
I hope you had a wonderful holiday.
Hello! I received the package sent from "We Love Our Soldiers". I've been in Iraq only 15 days and your care package was the first mail I've received ever since I left the States. I was overwhelmed with joy and it put the biggest smile on my face!
It was such a nice surprise to receive this package. I felt the tremendous Christmas spirit when I opened it and saw all that was packed inside. Everyone that has pitched in are so very kind and I wanted to take this moment to say "Thank You" from the bottom of my heart.
Merry Christmas to you and God Bless,

Happy Birthday to you! As Mayor of Salt Lake County, I also want you to know that I am very proud of your service on behalf of our Country, our State of Utah and Salt Lake County. The following is a poem that someone read at a veteranís event. I do not know if you have received it before but it is very appropriate. I thought I should send it to you.
Again, I wish you the best for a wonderful birthday. We will be thinking of you.

Salt Lake County Mayor
It is the soldier, not the reporter, who has given us freedom of the press.
It is the soldier, not the poet, who has given us freedom of speech.
It is the soldier, not the campus organizer, who has given us the freedom to demonstrate.
It is the soldier, not the lawyer, who has given us the right to a fair trial.
It is the soldier, who salutes the flag, who serves under the flag, and whose coffin is draped by the flag, who allows the protester to burn the flag.
Were it not for the brave, there would be no land of the free.
A soldier that submitted his name to your organization just brought over 2 big boxes to share with the rest of the personnel stationed in [location withheld].
I work at the compound's aide station - and every one always comes to the "clinic" for snacks, drinks, rest and relaxation - at least mental relaxation.
I thank you from the bottom of my heart for all the good work you do for our military personnel stationed in Iraq and Afghanistan.
JOB WELL DONE!
I know this "Thank-You" is a little late. My husband is currently serving in Iraq with the <name withheld> out of Cedar City. Our names (my 2 girls and I) were put on the "Giving Tree" at South Towne Mall. I just wanted to thank you for that great project. We recieved some really nice gifts from thoughtful people who took our names off of the tree and bought for us. We know this wouldn't
have happened without you. You are a true angel to military families. Christmas, 2005 was unlike any Christmas we have ever experienced as a family, but thanks to people like you it will live in our memories for a lifetime because of the genorousity of the people of Utah. Thank you so much Carla! You'll never know how much we appreciated everything!!
I would just like to express my sincere appreciation for kindness & support you have shown us. The stockings & goodies were a big success & I was able to share with many others. It is great people like yourself that make me proud to be an American. This is what makes us the greatest country in the world & you are a huge part of it. Without you we wouldn't be successful. Things here are going well & we are making progress, it just takes time & patience. I hope this finds you well & you have a very happy successful New Year. May the Lord bless you for your thoughtfulness.

This is just a little note to let you know that my children and I really appreciate all of the hard work and expense that has been put forth this holiday season for our family. What a surprise it was for all of us to see the wonderful things that so many generous individuals contributed on our behalf! I am so thankful for the work that you did to bring this program together, and I want you to know that it made our holiday a little brighter for sure! Santa didn't bring all the smiles this year - as I made sure that my children knew that these gifts came from people who care about their Daddy and other soldiers, and wanted our families to have a good holiday.
I wish that there was a way to thank everyone who spread all of this cheer! Thanks and thanks again!
Thank you doesn't seem adequate for all you have done for my family and others! I am thankful for you and others who have thought of all of us during a very difficult time! I brings tears to my eyes whenever i think of all the people who care so much for all of us and our soldiers! It has helped so much especially with my two special needs children, it was so very rough but knowing you and others cared so much made it worth all the sacrifice! GOD BLESS YOU ALL
I just came across your site via channel 2...thanks for all you do. I too am deployed, and knowing people like you are supporting us over here is fantastic! Thanks for thinking of us.
I just wanted to thank everyone that participated in the giving tree! Our family had a new baby and three other children as well, two who are special needs, it was a GIANT relief to know that people still remember the troops and their families! May god bless you all and GOD BLESS OUR TROOPS!
I just discovered your link on kbull\'s website. My husband is deployed with at Hill AFB to Iraq. He will be gone for the holidays and this is hard on him and our family. It is so uplifting to see that you are going out of your way to make it a better Christmas for the troops overseas for the holidays and year round. From a military wife, thank you for all you do!!
I just wanted to email and thank you for what you do for all us soldiers. You organization is a wonderful moral booster for all of us. I know that it must take incredible amounts of time and effort to do what you have and you are to be commened for all your hard work. Our nation is so great because of people like you. Thank you again.
I got the package today. Thanks for all the stuff, I will put it to good use, and share with the other guys. There were a lot of letters and cards in there with no return addresses. I like to write to those who write to me, but because this isn't possible now, could you tell all the contributors thanks for me? I am grateful there are so many that take the time do so something for us.
The soldiers and personnel of the Iraqi Survey Group here in _____, Qatar would like to thank you and all those individuals who graciously sent the Christmas packages to us. We thoroughly enjoyed the treats and put the toiletry items to immediate use. We sincerely appreciate your support and applaud you in your efforts of serving our great country. Please convey our gratitude to all those who have kindly contributed to our care packages. We really enjoyed them. Thanks again for all you have done in our behalf.
May we never forget and always appreciate what we have!
P.S. I'll be redeploying to the U.S. in early April. Hooray!!!

I have received the package you sent and I really thank you from the bottom of my heart. I will share all the things with my men. I am the motor sargent and have five young men working for me. I am 44 years of age and live in Richmond, Utah with my wife and three teenage daughters.
Your package arrived at a very good time, I was feeling a little overwhelmed by the daily demands and the little words of appreciation really lifted my spirits. Your act of kindness will bless you and yours.
I will add you and your family to my prayers. Thanks again for your kind gift.
God bless and God speed to you and yours.

Thank you so much for your support on the war on terrorism. It is always great to get a letter from people that appreciate what we are fighting for. Thank you for your pride in our country. It is people like you that help keep the American dream alive.
We are here to protect the freedoms that the United States stands so proudly for. We sacrifice time and, for some, life, for freedom and the people of America.
Thanks again for your support.
With much respect and highest regards,

Thank you for your Christmas stockings, gifts, and cards. I received the box shortly before Christmas and it was great! You are too kind and generous and didn't need to do so much work. Thank you! It was nice as always to hear from people back in Utah. I want you to give my thanks to all who helped you. We were able to share the letters, cards, and candy and gifts to other Utah soldiers. We had a big party Christmas eve (not real bid). That was very kind and most generous, please accept our sincere thanks and appreciation for lifting our spirits at a time many of us were struggling from being separated from our families and friends during the holiday time.
May God bless and keep you always,
Hello, my name is <name withheld>, and I received a package from you for the holiday season. I also received a few cards of which I am sure are from some children. I would personally like to thank you and anyone who helped you to put together this package. I shared the stocking with other soldiers who did not receive much for the holidays.
It is always nice to see that there are individuals who concern themselves with the welfare of others whom they have not met. I know that you sent packages to others and I am hoping that they all respond in kind with a thank you. If not, then I thank you for them.
Being so long away from home during the holiday season is such a difficult time especially when one is in harms way but it allows the opportunity for others to show their gratitude for the simple things in life that they have. As I look upon the Iraqi people and the newfound freedoms that they have received I want you to know that our sacrifice has made a difference and therefore your generosity has done the same. You have shown to us here in Iraq that no matter our situation there are some who will support the soldier and his sacrifices.
Each day we do what is asked of us and we pray that our leaders make correct decisions. We are here to support the people in making a transition. It is difficult at times yet we see the glow in the eyes of those around us and know it was worth it. Sometimes there is an ultimate sacrifice and none of us request it but we understand the purpose and though it pains us, we are determined not to let it undermine us, otherwise their loss was for nothing. We know better and so we continue to work towards the goals that are set before us. Someday, with hope, prayer and faith this will be a peaceful nation with respect and honor for its people where they will all be able to accomplish anything that their hearts desire.
Again, thanks to you and all those who have helped in the support of the American Soldier. It is good to see that we are not forgotten.
How are you doing? Thank you very much for the gifts, they sure help out and it also heps to know that people really care. The other soldiers in my section also thank you.
I am 24 years old. I am married and have two children, both daughters. I live in Vernal, UT. We have been here in Iraq for about 9 months. It is still crazy here. It makes me very proud that people still care enough to take time out of their days for us so thank you again. You don't know how much it helps out and how much it means to us, especially during the holiday when it seems like this will never end so thanks again.
A grateful soldier
I was so pleased and surprised by the great package you sent. It was an excellent Christmas present for a soldier who has been away from home for a long time. The candy & treats were great, the toiletries very useful, and the letters & books were the best of all. It made me feel very appreciated to see such generosity from someone I've never met. Thank you so much!
Your package reached me right after Thanksgiving. I am currently working in Baghdad, along with several other fellow Utah National Guard soldiers. We've been in the Middle East since January, and are mere weeks away from finishing up and leaving Iraq. It's been a long haul. It was a real morale-booster to share the Christmas spirit that you sent. So the guys and I wanted to write back and say how much we appreciate your support. We wish you a wonderful holiday season!
God bless you,
From a Soldier's Family
I just wanted to thank those who organized the tree this year. I was recipient of someones
generosity and can't say thank you enough. Having our husband and father gone through the
last year of holidays is hard. To recieve what we did was a great help. It also let us know
that our soldier over there are not forgotten, and that someone cares enough to try to help in
whatever way they could find. You saved the holidays for me, instead of crying tears of sadness
they were tears of happiness because someone thought of us. Thank You!!
From a Soldier
I would just like to say thank you so much for the wonderful support your program has shown
us serving over here in IRAQ. I am currently station in Baghdad and I recived a package from
your program a week ago, and it just made me and the rest of the soldiers I shared it with
very grateful for the love we felt. You folks have no idea how great it is to recieve that
kind of gratitude and love from our homeland. Thank you again from the members of the 1457
